If you love castles, history, and medieval stories, the Czech Republic is the perfect place for you. Our country is full of ancient fortresses, old villages, and landscapes that look like they came straight from a video game.
And in fact — they did! The famous medieval game Kingdom Come: Deliverance was inspired by real places in Czechia.
⚔️ Kingdom Come and Real Czech History
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a realistic medieval game made by Czech developers from Warhorse Studios.
It tells the story of Henry, a young blacksmith from a small village called Skalitz, during the 15th century — a time of knights, kings, and war in the Kingdom of Bohemia.

Many of the castles, forests, and towns you see in the game are based on real Czech locations.
When you explore the Czech countryside, you can actually visit the same kind of villages, castles, and churches that inspired the game world.
Some real places connected to the game include:
Kutná Hora – the silver mining town that made Bohemia rich and powerful.
Trosky Castle – a symbol of Bohemia and one of the most dramatic ruins in the country.
Křivoklát Castle – one of the oldest royal castles in the Czech Republic.
Sázava Monastery – an important place of medieval learning and spirituality.
🏰 Castle Trosky – The Twin Towers of Legend
One of the most iconic castles in Czechia is Trosky Castle, located in the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj) region, about 90 minutes northeast of Prague.
It stands on top of two volcanic rocks — one taller and one shorter — that look like two black towers reaching into the sky. Locals call them “Baba” (the old woman) and “Panna” (the maiden).

From the top, you can see beautiful forests, lakes, and small villages all around. The castle looks like something from a fantasy world — and it truly feels like you’ve stepped into Kingdom Come.
Fun Facts and Legends
The two towers of Trosky are said to represent a young lady and an old witch, and locals tell many spooky stories about them.
Some say there’s a secret tunnel under the castle, maybe even leading to Hell!
Warhorse Studios used real Czech villages, forests, and castles as models when designing the Kingdom Come world — you can feel the same atmosphere when walking here in real life.
