History and Interesting Facts
Český Krumlov is one of the most beautiful historic towns in the Czech Republic. It lies in South Bohemia, surrounded by hills and almost completely encircled by the Vltava River. Thanks to its preserved medieval center, the town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The history of Český Krumlov dates back to the 13th century, when it was founded by the powerful Vítkovci noble family. Later, the town became the seat of the Rosenberg family, one of the most important noble families in Bohemian history. Under their rule, the town and its castle flourished and became a major cultural and political center of the region.
The castle of Český Krumlov is the second largest castle complex in the Czech Republic. It includes beautiful courtyards, gardens, and a unique Baroque theater that has survived almost unchanged since the 18th century. For centuries, bears have lived in the castle moat — a tradition that continues to this day.
An interesting fact is that the town avoided major damage during World War II, which helped preserve its original medieval layout. Today, Český Krumlov attracts visitors from all over the world with its romantic atmosphere, rich history, and lively cultural events.
Český Krumlov is a place where history feels alive, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the past combined with unforgettable scenery.

Czech Moldavite
Mystical. Powerful. Unique.
Moldavite is a rare green gemstone found almost exclusively in the south of the Czech Republic. It was created about 15 million years ago when a large meteorite hit the Earth, melting local rocks and throwing them into the air. As the material cooled and fell back to the ground, moldavite was formed.
This unique stone is part of a group called tektites and is known for its deep green color and natural, rough surface. Moldavite is especially famous in South Bohemia, around the Vltava River, which gave the stone its name.
For centuries, people have believed moldavite has special powers. It was worn as a protective stone and later became popular in jewelry and spiritual practices. Today, it is highly valued by collectors, scientists, and visitors looking for an authentic Czech souvenir.
Because real moldavite is rare and found only in a small area, it is considered one of the most unique gemstones in the world — a true connection between Earth and outer space.
